MED 304:  Physiology of the Gastro-intestinal and Urinary Tracts

 

Objective:   To acquaint students with the normal functional (normal physiology) of the gastro-intestinal and urinary tracts.

 

Content :    Alimentary tract and its accessory glands; mastication and deglutition; salivary, gastric; pancreatic and interstitial secretions, liver and bile; peristalsis; neural and chemical control of mobility and secretion; digestion and absorption.

 

                   Kidney and nephron; production of urine; renal clearance; kidney and acid-base balance; hormonal control of kidney functions; kidney, blood pressure and erythrocyte formation; urinary bladder and micturition; neural control of bladder.’
